In a powerful statement, Luke Sharp - Director of Adaptive Surf Project has endorsed our efforts at Call the Moms and Dads.
I first learned about Bobbie Gail Dameron’s Call the Moms and Dads initiative when she shared her vision from the stage of a music festival. She described the program in detail, and I was deeply moved by its simplicity and potential impact. As the director of an organization that serves hundreds of individuals with disabilities and collaborates with dedicated volunteers, I have witnessed firsthand how loneliness can profoundly affect lives.
In my work, I strive to connect those experiencing loneliness with others, recognizing that both parties are often in a “pre-crisis” state. These human connections can make a transformative difference. Conversely, I have seen individuals slip into despair without someone to simply listen. Hearing Bobbie’s commitment to addressing this need as her mission left me inspired and hopeful.
Call the Moms and Dads, supported by the Stay in Touch (SIT) Foundation, fills a critical gap in our community by providing compassionate listeners for those who need someone to talk to. This initiative has the power to make our world a better place, fostering meaningful connections that prevent crises and nurture hope.
