Frequently asked questions.

Who are the Moms and Dads?

The Moms and Dads are carefully selected volunteers with mentorship experience who have undergone a thorough screening and training process. They are compassionate, empathetic individuals who are here to listen and provide support without judgment.

What kind of support do Moms and Dads provide?

While our Moms and Dads are not professional counselors, they are trained to provide listening support and can help you feel heard and understood and point you to resources available that can aid you if necessary.

How much time is required of volunteers?

There is no required time commitment or schedule, though we encourage and hope our volunteers find answering calls rewarding enough to commit time regularly.

What happens if callers need more help than I can provide?

If a caller's needs go beyond what our service can offer, we will guide them to additional resources that may be more suitable for their circumstances. Volunteers are given additional resources to recommend.

How are the Moms and Dads trained?

All of our volunteers go through a comprehensive training program that covers active listening, empathy, and how to handle a variety of situations. This ensures they are prepared to offer the best support possible.
