With all the organizations, charities, public & private resources to help those in need, it would make sense to assume there are mechanisms out there to fulfill the most basic of them, being able to talk to someone who cares. Yet there was no resource available to do this at scale, that is, until Call the Moms & Dads.
Navigating Hopeless to Happy
Providing help people need, without the barriers of stigma or cost.
One of the core ideas behind Call the Moms and Dads is “navigating hopeless to happy.” Dameron believes it is her strength. By offering a friendly, caring listener we can turn someone’s day around or even shift their outlook on life. “We want to give people the chance to find hope in everyday situations by helping them feel connected again,” she says. Whether it’s dealing with frustrations, worries, or feeling alone, having someone there to listen can make all the difference.
Volunteers Are the Core of the Service
As the service grows, so does the need for more volunteers. Dameron emphasizes the critical role volunteers play in the success of Call the Moms and Dads. “Our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Their willingness to listen can truly make a difference in someone’s life.
Volunteers receive training and undergo background checks to ensure they can provide the care and understanding required. Dameron’s goal is to continually expand the volunteer base, bringing in people who want to help others simply by listening. “We’re always looking for people who want to contribute their time and make a real impact. They can do it when they’re available,” she says.
Growing the Movement: Volunteers, Donors, and Supporters Needed
Both Call the Moms and Dads and The S.I.T Foundation are growing. With that growth comes the need for more volunteers, donors, and investors to support the mission. Dameron is actively seeking people who believe in the power of connection and want to be part of this movement.
